• Kids Check-In

Families begin at Kids Check-In, where children are securely checked into their age group and parents receive everything needed for a smooth drop-off and pickup.

All children nursery through 5th grade check in prior to the start of service. Nursery through 3rd grade are immediately dropped off in their kids ministry area; 4-5th grade attends the first part of worship alongside their families.

Every child and parent must have a name tag in order to enter the designated kids area.

  • Nursery, 2’s, and 3’s

Nursery and toddlers enjoy a safe, nurturing environment with age-appropriate play and care, while our 3-year-olds add a simple rhythm of worship, Bible teaching, activities, and play.

  • Pre-K – 3rd Grade

PreK–Kindergarten and 1st–3rd graders move through worship and Gospel Project teaching, small-group discussion, hands-on activities, and active play, giving them multiple ways to engage with the same biblical truth throughout the morning.

  • 4-5th Grade

4th–5th graders begin the morning worshiping alongside their families in the main service before being dismissed prior to the sermon for their own Gospel Project lesson, discussion, and application with leaders.

  • Kids Pickup

All children will be available for pickup from their classroom areas at the end of the worship service. Children may only be checked-out of the kids area by an adult with a matching security tag.

Four Priorities for Hill City Kids

These commitments guide our planning, our volunteer culture, and every environment we create for children and families.

01
Teach the gospel clearly

Every Sunday morning kids can learn about Jesus and the Bible in a safe and interactive environment. Our dedicated volunteers use engaging lessons, activities, and crafts to help kids grow in their understanding of God's love and plan for them. We use age-appropriate Bible teaching from the Gospel Project curriculum, which helps children understand who Jesus is, what He has done, and how the good news shapes everyday life.

02
Build trusted relationships

At Hill City Kids, children can worship and learn in a kid-friendly setting. With age-appropriate music, lessons, and activities, children have the opportunity to build a faith-foundation alongisde the guidance of wise, trusted adult volunteers. These consistent, prepared leaders help every child feel known, welcomed, and encouraged as part of the church family.

03
Partner with parents

We want to reinforce—not replace—the discipleship happening at home by giving parents clear communication and practical encouragement. We will regularly make available resources from the Gospel Project curriculum so you can continue the conversations we start at church. We’ve also curated a safe and serene space for mothers to take infants to nurse in our Mother’s Room, which is located near the lobby at the YMCA.

04
Safe and intentional

We take the safety and well-being of our children very seriously, which is why we adhere to strict child protection policies and training for any adult or teenage volunteer working with kids. Our kids area is a secure space on Sunday mornings, meaning nobody can access the area or pick up a child without appropriate identification and verification.
